Hatch Interior Design Inc. has recently acquired the expertise of Rachel Clarida of RA Design. Rachel is excited to become a partner at Hatch and looks forward to building on the fresh, forward-thinking designs that Hatch has become known for. Together Rachel and Leigh, Hatch’s founding partner, have made it their mission to become the Okanagan’s go-to commercial Interior design firm; using their education, experience and passion they aim to provide businesses with creative, functional and sustainable interior solutions. With a number of exciting projects currently on the go and a few more potential projects on the horizon, the new team is hitting the ground running.
Ever spent time at theoatmeal.com? I recently was on their site and had a good chuckle while reading their cartoon “How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell”. The cartoon shows, in an extremely comical (and for design professionals, a relatable) way, how great design can really be ruined if the client doesn’t trust the designer.
I understand just as well as anyone that it’s difficult to relinquish control, but you’ve hired a professional, right? If you really want that “wow” factor, you have to be willing to take risks. This means being opened to trying things you may not have considered on your own. Now, taking risks and being open doesn’t mean that your opinion doesn’t matter; a good designer will listen and consider your concerns, but they will also make decisions that are best for you in the long run.
We are very excited to announce that on March 4, 2011 Leigh Blackburn, owner of Hatch Interior Design, will be featuring her house as part of the Designer Digs Kelowna charity event. The brainchild of Tracey Wikenheiser, owner of La Bonne Vie Design and Décor on Pandosy Street, Designer Digs will donate all proceeds to Smartrisk a charity dedicated to preventing injuries and saving lives by helping Canadians, specifically our youth, to realize and manage potential risk.

What a fantastic first year of business it has been! We want to express our sincere gratitude to all of our supporters including our clients, suppliers, consultants, colleagues, builders, contractors, trades, family, and friends. 2010 would not have been as successful without you!
