Although, it is true, I wasn’t able to make it out to the IDS in Vancouver this year, I have come across a number of interesting products in 2010, many of which will be showcased at this year’s show. Here are my three favorites:

Woodworker and artist Judson Beaumont of Straight Line Designs creates whimsical tongue-in-cheek furniture that will inspire the most creative thinker. Contrary to his company name, the furniture he produces is everything but straight! Great for kid’s rooms – check out one of my favorites “Beaver”.

Maai Living is a new furniture manufacturer based in Vancouver. Their furniture can best be described as a fusion of Thai style (maai means wood in Thailand) with modern form resulting in a minimalist, yet organic elegance. What do you think of my favorite the “Shell Dining Chair”? I’m already thinking that this chair would be perfect for a particular project I have on the back burner right now…

Last, but certainly not least Selezioni Innovative Stone Design based in Vancouver has developed some ground breaking (pun intended) 3-dimensional stone tiles that I just LOVE. They even started manufacturing ready-to-hang, preassembled panels complete with wood frames – a very smart idea. Again, I wouldn’t be surprised if these end up on one of my projects in the near future! Here’s my favorite style: “Solo”.
