Akin, a rental community located in the heart of downtown Kelowna, is a project that Hatch is very proud to have been a part of. Being brought onto the team at an early stage allowed us to work closely with the client to drive the interior design, aesthetic, function and details throughout the entire process. Characterized by intensive attention to detail and ensuring that every inch of this building was closely considered, this multifamily building is intentional in every way.
Westpoint Projects Inc., the developer, wanted to provide an upscale rental building that residents are proud to call home. This project boasts a great amount of tenant amenity space as an extension of their unit; large fitness centre with a spin room, theatre room, coworking / meeting space, family room and yoga room.
A consistent theme of bringing the outdoors in is felt throughout all areas of Akin’s private and public areas. This theme is highlighted in the stunning lobby space with warm exposed aggregate flooring, a curving wall with two toned wood wall paneling and a beautiful concierge desk with rich finishes and curves to compliment the rest. Gold and black touches throughout the amenity spaces add drama and elegance.
There are several different suite layouts designed to maximize functionality, ranging from compact bachelor units all the way up to two bedroom suites and multi-floor townhouses flanking either side of the lobby. The suites have two different finish schemes with coordinating corridor finishes alternating each floor as you ascend the 6 story rental. Each scheme incorporates wood look flooring, two tone millwork and neutral tile accents in both the kitchen and bathrooms, providing a comfortable and modern interior to call home. Black hardware accents throughout tie into the common area accents and heighten the contemporary aesthetic.
