Are you opening a new retail location and looking to provide your customers with a unique shopping experience? Social Pets opened their second location in downtown Kelowna and called on Hatch to help execute a market inspired concept that would appeal to a large demographic of pet owners.

For this project we incorporated a subtle palette to help balance the colourful merchandise; warm neutrals were paired with gloss white tile and black accents creating a great backdrop to display their products. The wood structure at the ceiling level as partly left exposed as a nod to the history in this building.

As this retail location is pet friendly, and many clients do bring their fur babies in with them, careful consideration was taken to ensure durability, cleanability and sufficient circulation space. A bakery style sales counter, complete with glass showcase for special baked treats, was designed in keeping with the market feel and adding to the customer experience.

There were many requirements for the grooming area. It had to be visually accessible from the retail area, incorporate natural light, and have extremely durable finishes to withstand the wear and tear inevitable with this type of use. For the natural light component we were able to slope the ceiling up to an existing skylight for an interesting design feature that is difficult to capture in photos! A warm, neutral mosaic was specified for the dog washes providing a slip free surface for pups.
