This beach inspired show suite exhibits a light finish palette with dark wood tone accents.
Hatch recently completed the interior design and styling of a penthouse show suite in The Waters Edge development by MKS Resources. The target market for the suite included out-of-towners and baby-boomers, so we really wanted to a create a high-end look with a unique style that would set it apart from other similarly priced options in Kelowna. While the proposed design was a little outside of our Client’s comfort zone, they put their trust in our experience and skill and are tremendously happy with the result.
The rich walnut wood tones, high gloss upper cabinet fronts, white quartz countertops and marble mosaic backsplash provide a contemporary, yet inviting kitchen.
The Water’s Edge is located on Mission Creek in Kelowna, BC, just before it flows into Okanagan Lake. Kelowna is very much a summer town; we are lucky to have a ton of sunshine, a gorgeous lake and multitudes of outdoor activities just outside our doors. We took our inspiration from the beautiful natural surroundings that locals and visitors alike enjoy here, with a focus on the beach.
Hickory hardwood flooring and cork wall tile add warmth to this natural light filled space.
This west-facing, three bedroom, 3440 sq.ft. unit has stunning views overlooking the lake from both the main and upper floors, and large wrap around decks on both levels. The two storey living space boasts a 20’-0” ceiling and a large living room with the spacious kitchen and dining areas adjacent.
Beach Inspired Show Suite Design
The master bedroom feels like it could be located steps from the water with the calming colours, materials and natural motifs.
A light finish and colour palette was selected for the floors and walls of the unit, with some darker wood accents in the millwork and furniture. We wanted to keep this unit feeling light and airy, adding colour and pop in the furnishings and accessories. Accent colours of paint, furniture fabric and accessories are reminiscent of the beach and water.
The finishes applied to the master ensuite create a fresh and clean space that works into the overall concept.
We would like to thank our Client, MKS Resources, for letting go of their inhibitions and embracing a new design experience. We maintained a clear and confident vision throughout the process; this vision became apparent to our Client when it all came together in a tangible space.
The beach inspiration didn’t stop at the selection of finishes and furnishings; we incorporated styling elements like natural wood and pebbles to strengthen our vision.
