When the City of Grand Forks approached Hatch for the interior design of their City Hall after an unfortunate fire we were immediately excited at the opportunity to honour the building and the community’s rich history with an interior that married the past with modern day. We had great bones to work with; original round tapered columns reaching 14′ to the trusses above, the potential to expose original brick walls with solid wood lintels, and expansive windows providing ample natural light to the interior. Prior to the fire the City recently went through an extensive rebranding exercise to modernize and attract new families and businesses to the area; their new interior strengthens their message.
If you missed our post describing the concept for our project you can check it out here. Today we are sharing the final photos and we are really happy with the result. More importantly, Grand Forks is thrilled with their new space, stating that it is “an environment that is beautiful, functional and very unique”.
